Driving under the influence of alcohol or any other intoxicant is always a bad decision, and such conduct only increases the risks involved not only for that driver but for anyone else who is sharing the road at that time.  Tragically, two unsuspecting people paid the ultimate price for such a decision by a stranger yesterday when a crash led to their deaths on the highway near Henderson.

According to the Las Vegas Sun:

Anita Mann, of Henderson, was arrested and booked into the Henderson Detention Center in connection with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol resulting in death. Mann’s blood-alcohol test results haven't been released.

Henderson Police spokesman Todd Rasmussen said officers responded at 11:43 a.m. to the crash in the area of West Horizon Ridge Parkway and Shaded Canyon Drive.

He said a Hyundai Santa Fe and Hyundai Accent both were traveling eastbound on Horizon Ridge when the Hyundai Accent rear-ended the Hyundai Santa Fe.

Rasmussen said a 66-year-old woman in the Santa Fe was ejected when the car overturned as a result of the impact. The woman and a man of the same age -- both occupants of the Santa Fe -- were pronounced dead at the scene."
