"One child and four adults were taken to University Medical Center this morning for carbon monoxide poisoning and are in serious but stable condition, authorities said Monday. The North Las Vegas Fire Department responded at 7:18 a.m. to a house in the 2000 block of East Owens Avenue and came in contact with one adult, who reported problems consistent with carbon monoxide poisoning, authorities said.
The investigation found the residents might have become poisoned because a heater and heater vent on the roof of the home was covered, causing the carbon monoxide to linger in the house instead of being released outside."
If this becomes a legal situation, the case could turn on the identity of the party who covered the heater and heater vent and whether the occupants of the home knew or should have known that they were covered. In actuality, these people are somewhat fortunate, as carbon monoxide poisoning can be fatal.
