The accident occurred at approximately 7 a.m. at the intersection of Warm Springs Road and Pueblo Boulevard. According to reports, the boy was riding east on Warm Springs when the driver of a minivan suddenly pulled out into the intersection while driving on Pueblo. The gruesome details also describe how the boy was thrown for 20 feet because of the impact with the vehicle. He was not wearing a helmet.
Unfortunately, the boy has now become part of a troubling set of statistics. Every year, approximately 700 people are killed on bicycles in the United States, and the vast majority of these fatalities occur as a result of a collision between a bicycle and a car, truck, van or SUV. There are also more than 40,000 injuries as a result of bicycle accidents in the country on an annual basis.
In terms of the fatal Henderson bicycle accident, authorities have stated that alcohol, drugs and speeding have been ruled out as caused, although the investigation continues and no decision has yet been made regarding whether or not to file criminal charges against the driver of the minivan.
If you or someone you love has been harmed as a result of a bicycle accident, you need the help of a Henderson personal injury lawyer who understands how to hold those who are responsible for these types of tragic losses accountable.
