According to police, this Nevada car accident occurred on the southbound Interstate 15 near Mile Marker 8, which sits approximately 20 miles south of Las Vegas.  The crash occurred just after 12:30 p.m.  An officer had stopped to investigate an accident that had already occurred when he was struck by a passing vehicle, although reports are unclear as to whether the officer was inside his police cruiser or standing next to it when the collision occurred.  The officer was transported to a hospital and details regarding the injuries were unavailable.
