"A 12-year-old girl was critically injured when she was struck by a car at about 1 p.m. Wednesday.Police said the accident occurred at the intersection of Washington Avenue and Ann Drive in Las Vegas. That location is just west of Washington's intersection with Valley View Boulevard.
The girl was taken to University Medical Center's trauma unit with life-threatening injuries, police said.
Witnesses told police that a 2007 Toyota Highlander was traveling eastbound on Washington Avenue in the right travel lane west of Ann when the girl ran into the crosswalk and was struck by the Toyota, police said."
Police stated that the crash is under investigation. While it appears that the driver of the vehicle did not violate any traffic laws, one of the factors that could prove to be critical in the determination of fault is the speed at which the vehicle was traveling.
