12-Year-Old Girl Injured in Single-Vehicle Las Vegas Car Accident

Written by Las Vegas Accident Lawyers Wednesday, 11 May 2011 13:11

When someone gets behind the wheel of a vehicle, that person owes a legal duty of care to anyone who could be affected by the actions of that driver.  When the driver makes a mistake that leads to injuries, that person could ultimately be found liable for damages in an Nevada personal injury lawsuit.  While it's too early to know exactly what happened, what is known is that a 12-year-old girl was injured in a single-vehicle Las Vegas car accident after the driver lost control of the car.

According to the authorities, this single-vehicle Las Vegas car accident occurred on Monday morning at 8:15 a.m.  The 64-year-old driver of a Ford station wagon was moving in a westbound direction on Vegas Drive just west of Saylor Way.  Suddenly, she lost control of the vehicle for some reason and ran up onto the sidewalk before slamming into a streetlight pole.  A 12-year-old girl who was a passenger in the back seat was injured and suffered what were described as serious injuries.

Nevada Car Accident Statistics

First, we'd like to offer our sincere hope that the girl who was injured in this single-vehicle Las Vegas car accident is able to recover from the harm that she has suffered quickly and fully.  In addition, this crash will now become part of the overall statistics regarding Nevada car accidents.  Every year, thousands of people are injured and approximately 300 people are killed in these occurrences.

Las Vegas Car Accident Lawyers

If the available facts are accurate and the driver of the car simply lost control and crashed, then it's possible that the family of the girl who was injured could file a Nevada personal injury lawsuit against that driver.  If such a lawsuit is filed and it's successful, the family could be awarded damages that compensate them for their medical costs and their pain and suffering.

Police Officer Injured in Las Vegas Motorcycle Accident

Written by Las Vegas Accident Lawyers Wednesday, 04 May 2011 12:45

One of the dangers faced by motorcyclists when they head out onto the roads is that drivers of larger vehicles will not see them as they would a sedan, SUV or truck.  As a result, many Nevada motorcycle accidents occur because people execute maneuvers as though the motorcycle in question was not there, and this includes police motorcycles.  For the second time in three days, a police officer was injured in a Las Vegas motorcycle accident when the driver of a larger vehicle turned into its path.

According to the police, this Las Vegas motorcycle accident occurred yesterday morning just after 8:10 a.m. near the intersection of McLeod Street and St. Louis Avenue in the eastern valley.  The 57-year-old female driver of a Toyota sedan was moving in a westbound direction on St. Louis Avenue when she attempted to make a left turn onto McLeod Street.  As she did so, she turned into the path of the oncoming police motorcycle and the two vehicles collided.  The police officer was injured and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Nevada Motorcycle Accident Statistics

First, we'd like to offer our hope that the police officer who was injured in this Las Vegas motorcycle accident is able to recover quickly and fully from the harm that he has suffered.  In addition, this crash will now become part of the overall statistics regarding Nevada motorcycle accidents.  Every year, hundreds of people are injured in these crashes and approximately one person is killed every week somewhere in the state as a result of these collisions.

Las Vegas Motorcycle Accident Lawyers

Generally, when someone in any type of vehicle has the right-of-way at an intersection and that right-of-way is not properly yielded, the person who has been injured in the crash could ultimately file a Nevada personal injury lawsuit in response.  If such a lawsuit is filed and it's successful, it could lead to an award of damages that compensates the injured person for losses that include medical costs, future medical costs if necessary, lost income and pain and suffering.

If you or someone you love has been harmed in a crash, you need to seek the help of Las Vegas motorcycle accident lawyers who have been holding those responsible for this type of harm accountable for many years.  Contact Jack Bernstein & Associates today to schedule a free initial consultation.

Pedestrian Killed in Suspected Las Vegas DUI Accident

Written by Las Vegas Accident Lawyers Friday, 29 April 2011 09:13

Pedestrians are a constant sight in Las Vegas, and anyone who gets behind the wheel needs to be ready to provide them with enough room to make sure they are safe from harm.  Even when pedestrians make somewhat unexpected moves, drivers are taught to drive defensively enough to avoid disaster.  Tragically, that does not appear to be what occurred during the first few moments of this morning when a man walking was killed in what police suspect to be a Las Vegas DUI accident.

According to the authorities, this suspected Las Vegas DUI accident occurred just after midnight this morning when 58-year-old Russell Barnet Fix III of Las Vegas was crossing the road at Las Vegas Boulevard and Four Seasons Drive.  He began to cross in the crosswalk, but changed direction at the midpoint and left the crosswalk.  At that point, he was hit and killed by a vehicle being driven by 28-year-old Aleesha C. Daly of Las Vegas.  She reportedly did not pass field sobriety tests and was arrested on suspicion of DUI.

Nevada Pedestrian Accident Statistics

First and foremost, we'd like to offer our most sincere condolences to the family and friends of the man who was suddenly killed in this suspected Las Vegas DUI accident.  We also hope that the truth will be uncovered as the investigation advances.  In addition, this Las Vegas pedestrian accident will now become part of the overall statistics regarding Nevada pedestrian accidents.  Approximately 50 people are killed in these crashes every year somewhere in the state, and hundreds more are injured.

Las Vegas DUI Accident Lawyers

If the available facts are accurate, then the driver in this suspected Las Vegas DUI accident will likely face serious criminal charges.  In addition, she could also face a Nevada wrongful death lawsuit if the family of the man who was killed chooses to initiate such a filing.  If they take such a step, the case would likely involve some analysis regarding how and why the man left the crosswalk in addition to the evidence regarding how much alcohol may have been in the system of the driver at the time of the crash.

If you have lost someone you love to a drunk driver, you need to seek the help of Las Vegas wrongful death lawyers who have been fighting on behalf of grieving families for 40 years.  Contact Jack Bernstein & Associates today to schedule a free initial consultation.

Report States that Nevada Motorcycle Accidents Are On the Rise

Written by Las Vegas Accident Lawyers Monday, 25 April 2011 13:35

Many efforts have been made both in Nevada and across the country to bring down the number of motorcycle accidents that occur.  Overall, these efforts seem to have brought about positive results, as it appears that on a national scale, the number of motorcycle accident deaths that occurred in 2010 could continue a recent downward trend.  While that's obviously positive news, the preliminary conclusions drawn by a recent statistical analysis state that the number of fatal Nevada motorcycle accidents could be higher in 2010 than they were during the previous year.

According to a report compiled by the Governors Highway Safety Association, overall motorcycle fatalities dropped by approximately 2 percent in 2010 as compared to 2009.  The GHSA is a non-profit entity that generally works to assist state highway safety offices.  Specifically, there were 4.465 fatalities that were the result of motorcycle accidents in 2009, and that number dropped to 4,376 or fewer in 2010.  The final statistics will not be ready for a few months as some states are still compiling this information.

Nevada Motorcycle Accident Statistics

Clearly, the overall number of fatalities resulting from motorcycle accidents on a national scale is somewhat encouraging.  However, the same cannot be said for Nevada motorcycle accidents.  According to the report, 42 people were killed in Nevada motorcycle accidents in 2009.  Although the number through the first nine months of 2010 indicated a slight drop, the final numbers are expected to show an increase in Nevada motorcycle accident fatalities for all of 2010.

Nevada Motorcycle Accident Lawyers

Obviously, the fewer Nevada motorcycle accidents that occur, the better it is for everyone.  However, if someone is injured or killed in a Nevada motorcycle accident and it's the result of a negligent driver, that person or that person's family could file a Nevada personal injury lawsuit in response to the incident.  If these lawsuits are filed and they are successful, they could lead to damages awards that compensate the families for their losses, both tangible and intangible in nature.

If you or someone you love has been harmed in a crash, you need to seek the help of Nevada motorcycle accident lawyers who have been fighting successfully on behalf of injured clients and suffering families for many years.  Contact Jack Bernstein & Associates today to schedule a free initial consultation.

Police Officer Seriously Injured in Suspected Las Vegas DUI Accident

Written by Las Vegas Accident Lawyers Monday, 18 April 2011 12:49

Anyone who is out in traffic is in a position where he or she must trust that other motorists in the area are doing the right thing and that they will avoid mistakes that put them in danger.  This is true even of police officers, who must also depend on the rightful actions of others when they are attempting to do their jobs.  Unfortunately, that's allegedly not what occurred when an on-duty police officer was seriously injured in a suspected Las Vegas DUI accident that occurred late last week.

According to the police, this suspected Las Vegas DUI accident occurred on Thursday morning just after 1:30 a.m. when Officer Tony McCleery, 54, was executing a traffic stop on Las Vegas Boulevard, south of Sunset Road near Town Square.  As he stood alongside another vehicle that was the subject of an investigation, the driver of a pickup truck, identified as 42-year-old Brandon Potts of Henderson, crashed into the parked motorcycle.  The force of that impact sent it forward, and it crashed into the officer, inflicting serious injuries.  Mr. Potts was arrested on suspicion of DUI-related charges.

Nevada Car Accident Statistics

First and foremost, we'd like to offer our hope that the officer who was seriously injured in this suspected Las Vegas DUI accident is able to overcome the harm he has suffered so that he can make a full and fast recovery.  In addition, this Las Vegas car accident will now become part of the overall statistics regarding Nevada car accidents.  Every year, thousands of people are injured and approximately 400 people are killed in these occurrences across the state.

Las Vegas DUI Accident Lawyers

If the available facts are accurate, the injured officer would be well-served to look into different forms of legal relief.  Worker's compensation benefits could be possible, but there are situations where the filing of a Nevada personal injury lawsuit could also be appropriate.  People who are injured in Las Vegas DUI accidents and who file successful legal claims could recover damages awards that compensate them for their medical costs, their lost income and their pain and suffering.

If you or someone you love has been injured by a drunk driver, you need to seek the help of Las Vegas DUI accident lawyers who have been holding those responsible for this conduct accountable for many years.  Contact Jack Bernstein & Associates today to schedule a free initial consultation.
