Every September, thousands of people come from all over the world to take in the National Championship Air Races. These races feature some of the best and most daring pilots in the world racing and performing in front of appreciative crowds. Clearly, this is an event that involves some danger, and tragically, that danger became a reality today as a plane crashed into spectators and killed many people. Facts are still being gathered at the scene and no statistical details have yet been provided.
According to several emerging reports, this horrific Reno plane crash occurred this afternoon at the site of the National Championship Air Races, near Bravo Avenue and Mt. Lola Street in an air field that contains a large seating area for fans. As a flight was occurring, the pilot of a P-51 Mustang suddenly veered into a box seating area at approximately 4:30 p.m. While several people were killed and injured, it could take some time before specific numbers are ascertained. At this point, rescue workers are still trying to clear the scene and transport those who need it to emergency medical facilities.
First and foremost, we'd like to offer our most sincere condolences to the families and friends of the people who were killed in this tragedy, and we hope that the people who were injured are able to survive the harm they have suffered. In addition, this Reno plane crash will now become part of the overall statistics regarding plane crashes around the world. Every year, nearly 150 commercial plane crashes occur and nearly 1,000 people are killed as a result. Private crash numbers, while generally estimates, occur at a much higher rate.
Clearly, much more information would be necessary before anyone could even begin to assign fault for this Reno plane crash. However, when that task is completed, it's likely that there will be a spate of Nevada wrongful death and Nevada personal injury lawsuits filed against those responsible for this incident. Successful claims will lead to damages awards for the plaintiffs.
If you or someone you love has been injured in an accident of any type, you need to seek the help of Nevada wrongful death lawyers who have been fighting for the rights of grieving families for many years. Contact Jack Bernstein & Associates today to schedule a free initial consultation.
