Whitney earned his Doctorate of Jurisprudence from the Appalachian School of Law, in the Commonwealth of Virginia, a school recognized for its rigorous service requirements and training in mediation skills. He is licensed as an attorney and counselor at law in Nevada.

Whitney's personal experience gives him wisdom beyond his years. He is a husband of many years, and a father of four. He has performed much service supervising youth in the Boy Scouts of America program. He has organized and/or participated in various volunteer projects, including graffiti removal in North Las Vegas, and Regional Area Medical Clinic - a program providing free medical care to low-income residents in the Appalachia region.
