"A pedestrian was critically injured in a hit-and-run crash this morning on Las Vegas Boulevard. The incident occurred at 4:34 a.m. on Las Vegas Boulevard south of Cathedral Way, which is north of the Encore and Desert Inn Road.
According to police, the pedestrian, identified as Jamie Jones, 19, of Las Vegas, was crossing Las Vegas Boulevard from the west curb to the east curb and wasn't walking within a crosswalk.
A dark-colored, four-door sedan struck the pedestrian and continued driving northbound."
The situation will likely continue to progress when the driver is identified. However, the fact that the pedestrian was not using a crosswalk could give rise to Nevada's legal doctrine of modified comparative fault, whereby the plaintiff must prove that the defendant was at least 51% at fault for the injuries that occurred. Working with such a legal norm requires the help of an experienced and skilled Las Vegas personal injury attorney . If you have been injured in such a crash, contact Jack Bernstein & Associates today to schedule a free initial consultation.
