According to Metro Police, the latest fatal Las Vegas pedestrian accident occurred just after 5 a.m. this morning as two vehicles - a Dodge Neon and a Nissan Maxima - were finishing a string of street robberies. At that point, a pedestrian who has yet to be identified was in the area of near Washington Avenue and Nellis Boulevard in the northeast valley. The Nissan Maxima slammed into the pedestrian and this person wound up in the path of the Dodge Neon, where this person was hit again. Both vehicles fled the scene and the pedestrian did not survive the impacts.
First and foremost, we'd like to send our most sincere condolences to the family and friends of the person who was killed so senselessly. Those who will receive this terrible news will struggle with feelings of shock and grief, and we hope that justice is soon served. In addition, this fatal Las Vegas pedestrian accident will now become part of the overall statistics regarding Nevada pedestrian accidents. Every year, approximately one person per week is killed in this sort of crash.
If the drivers of the vehicles are apprehended, they will obviously face a slew of serious criminal charges. In addition, they could also face civil liability if the family of the person who was killed files a Nevada wrongful death lawsuit against the drivers. If such a claim is filed and is successful, it could lead to an award of damages that compensates the family for all costs incurred as well as lost income and loss of companionship.
