According to police, the latest fatal Las Vegas motorcycle accident occurred on Thursday at approximately 9 p.m. on southbound U.S. 93, about 15 miles north of the Interstate 15/U.S. 93 interchange. The motorcyclist, identified as David Short, 41, of Filer, Idaho, attempted to pass a truck pulling a horse trailer. When the motorcyclist attempted to return to the southbound lane after making the pass, he struck the front left side of the truck and was killed as a result.
First, we'd like to send our condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Short. Losing a life in such a sudden and violent manner is always tragic, and we hope that those who were close to him are able to someday move past their grief, shock and sorrow. In addition, this latest fatal Nevada motorcycle accident will only add to the overall statistics in this regard. Every year, approximately one person is killed on a weekly basis in these types of collisions.
More investigation would need to be done before fault could be assigned in this Nevada motorcycle accident. Reports indicated that the truck swerved to avoid the motorcycle, but a legal analysis would likely come down to whether the motorcyclist was negligent in attempting the pass, whether the truck driver was negligent in the maneuvers that vehicle made and how much fault could be assigned to each party.
