Study Shows Nevada Drivers Among the Least Knowledgeable In the United States

Safe driving clearly involves motorists understanding the relevant traffic laws that apply to any traffic situation, and a lack of knowledge of these laws only increases the number of car accidents that will occur.  When people wonder why so many Nevada car accidents occur, one of the potential answers could be that drivers in the state rank among the worst in the United States when it comes to knowledge of traffic laws.  This fact comes from an annual study that was performed by GMAC insurance.

According to the study, Nevada ranks number 42 out of the 50 states and the District of Columbia when it comes to knowing the traffic laws that govern their driving.  The study consisted of testing more than 5,000 drivers between the ages of 16 and 65, and providing them with 20 questions from their state's written driving exam.  Nevada drivers scored an average of 75.7 percent, which was down from the average state score from last year that stood at 76.2 percent.

Clearly, this is a troubling result for all of the drivers of Nevada, as the less knowledgeable drivers are as a whole, the more danger every motorist will encounter regardless of his or her level of understanding of the laws that govern this mode of travel.  While no direct link has yet been established, it's quite possible that this overall lack of knowledge could contribute to the number of Nevada car accident statistics.  Every year, nearly 400 people are killed in these crashes across the state.
