According to authorities, the latest fatal Las Vegas car accident occurred just before 3 a.m. this morning on the Russell Road bridge over Interstate 15. A Toyota sedan was moving in an eastbound direction in the westbound lanes of Russell Road when it collided with a Plymouth that was moving in the proper direction. The driver of the Toyota, who was not identified, was killed in the crash, and the unidentified driver of the Plymouth was transported to the hospital with serious injuries. Police suspect that alcohol was a factor in the crash.
First and foremost, we'd like to express our condolences to the family and friends of the driver who was killed, and we hope that the motorist who was injured is able to overcome the harm suffered quickly. It's possible that this situation was the result of a terrible mistake. In addition, this fatal Las Vegas car accident will now become part of the overall statistics regarding Nevada car accidents. Every year, thousands of people are injured and approximatley 400 people are killed in these occurrences.
There are certain situations where enforcing the legal rights of someone who is injured seems harsh and cold, especially when the person who allegedly was negligent or reckless is killed. However, when a person is injured by someone else, that person still has legal rights that need to be protected, and it's possible that in this situation that the driver who was not at fault could bring a Nevada personal injury lawsuit against the estate of the driver who was killed in order to recover damages for medical costs, lost income and pain and suffering.
