According to police, the latest fatal Las Vegas car accident occurred on Friday evening at approximately 6 p.m. on the northbound I-15 near the Sahara Avenue interchange. There had been an accident a few minutes earlier in the area, and traffic had come to a stop as a result. One of the vehicles that stopped was a taxi in a Nellis taxi cab, and suddenly a Dodge sedan collided with the taxi from the rear, killing a 62-year-old man who was sitting in the back seat. Three other people were injured in the crash.
First, we'd like to extend our condolences to the man who was killed. Riding in a taxi generally allows people to relax and assume that they will arrive at their destination safely. Unfortunately, this incident will also become part of the overall statistics regarding Nevada car accidents. Every year, approximately 500 people are killed in these occurrences, and these numbers have held steady over the past several years.
If it turns out that the driver of the Dodge was negligent in rear-ending the taxi cab, it's possible that the man's family could file a Nevada wrongful death lawsuit against the driver. If such a lawsuit was successful, it could lead to an award of damages that compensate the family for medical, funeral and burial costs as well as lost income and loss of companionship, depending on the specifics of the case.
If you have lost someone you love because of a negligent driver, you need to seek the help of Las Vegas wrongful death lawyers who have been holding those responsible for this type of tragic loss accountable for many years.
