Three People Killed, Others Injured in Suspected Las Vegas DUI Accident

Driving in the desert may seem to many to be an area where danger is limited, as there are no buildings, few if any other motorists in the area and little in the way of obstacles that could present danger if a crash occurs.  Tragically, the desert has been the site of many fatal Las Vegas car accidents in recent years, and another one has occurred that has led to the deaths of three young people and injuries to two others in what police suspect may have been a Las Vegas DUI accident.

According to the authorities, this suspected Las Vegas DUI accident occurred at approximately 3 a.m. on Sunday morning on State Route 147 at mile marker 40, which sits near Pabco Road.  20-year-old Sergio Diaz was driving a Chevrolet SUV at that location when the vehicle suddenly veered off the road flipped over and burst into flames.  The driver was killed in the crash as were Omar Jimenez, 18, of Las Vegas and another unidentified passenger.  Two others were seriously injured in the crash, and police suspect that alcohol and speed played roles in the incident.
