"For the first time a Las Vegas driver is coming forward saying he crashed his Toyota because of sudden acceleration. As you know in recent months millions of Toyota and Lexus vehicles have been recalled for that problem.
An empty driveway is where Nick Zarras' 2003 Toyota Avalon once sat. His car is now in a scrap yard. "I put it in drive and the car accelerates full power right into the wall. I made sure my foot was off the gas and on the brake," said Nick.
Nick was aware of the recalls on Toyota cars but his 2003 Avalon is not on the list. "I had no warning of any impending problem," explained Nick. According to an Associated Press report, federal investigators who reviewed Toyota's customer call database found that 70% of the complaints of sudden acceleration were for vehicles that are not subject to the recalls.
Nick feels fortunate that he and his wife weren't severely injured in the crash. "I'm still sore, my neck's stiff, my back is still stiff. I saw the doc and he says it's gonna take about 3 months to totally heal," said Nick. Based on his experience Nick feels Toyota should step up and replace his and other cars that were involved in these crashes with the same make and model, similar miles and provide a bumper-to-bumper warrantee."
