The people who were killed were identified as Maurice Goldberg, 80, who was the driver of the Ford Focus in the Las Vegas car accident . His passenger who was also killed was identified as 87-year-old Margot Carra. According to police, the accident occurred on Monday just before 2:30 p.m. Mr. Goldberg was driving his vehicle in a southbound direction on Mountain Vista toward Vegas Valley Drive when he lost control of his vehicle for some reason. As a result, the car struck a wall on Mountain Vista, clipped a stop sign at the intersection with Vegas Valley Drive, moved across four lanes of traffic on Vegas Valley Drive and came to rest after striking another wall.
First and foremost, we'd like to extend our condolences to the families and friends of both parties who were killed. This is a tragic loss that will be difficult to overcome. In addition, this Las Vegas car accident will only add to the overall statistics regarding Nevada car accidents . Every year, nearly 500 people are killed in traffic accidents, and that number has held steady for many years.
As mentioned earlier, drivers owe a legal duty of care to their passengers. Therefore, it's possible that the famly of Ms. Carra has a claim for wrongful death against the driver, depending on all of the facts of the situation. If a Nevada wrongful death lawsuit was filed and was successful, it's possible that her family could be awarded damages to compensate them for their losses.
However, these types of determinations should only be made with the help of a Las Vegas car accident lawyer who has been successfully fighting for the rights of suffering families for many years.
