The latest fatal Las Vegas traffic accident occurred at approximately 2:45 p.m. on Saturday at North Lamb Boulevard, north of East Washington Avenue. According to police, a 19-year-old motorcyclist whose name has not yet been released was moving down Lamb Boulevard when the driver of an SUV made a right turn onto the street and into the path of the oncoming motorcycle. The rider was rushed to the hospital after the crash but did not survive his injuries. The driver of the SUV, Maria Mauricio-Martinez, 34, of Las Vegas, attempted to flee the scene but was apprehended a few blocks from the incident.
First, we'd like to extend our condolences to the family of the young man who was killed. Losing a life at such a young age is truly tragic, and we hope that the family is able to overcome the shock and grief that will certainly be part of their lives for some time. In addition, this incident marks the 40th Las Vegas traffic fatality so far this year, and overall, approximately 500 people are killed in Nevada car accidents overall on an annual basis.
While more evidence would need to be clarified, the family of the motorcyclist who was killed could have legal rights and options that warrant analysis. If the filing of a Nevada wrongful death lawsuit is advisable and ultimately proves to be successful, the family could be awarded damages that include compensation for medical, funeral and burial costs as well as lost income and loss of companionship.
If you have lost someone you love because of a negligent driver, you need to seek the help of Las Vegas wrongful death lawyers who have been successfully fighting for the rights of grieving families for many years. Contact Jack Bernstein & Associates today to schedule a free initial consultation.
