Teen in Custody After High-Speed Crash

According to police reports, three people have been hospitalized after a three-vehicle wreck in a Las Vegas high-speed. Around 8:30 a.m., police responded to calls about a crash on North Pecos Road. The investigation shows that a 17-year-old male driver was heading north on Pecos at a high rate of speed in a 1993 Honda Accord. When he crossed into oncoming traffic, he collided with a 2007 Mazda CX-7. The two vehicles then collided with a 2008 Ford Taurus. When the vehicles stopped, the 17-year-old fled the scene on foot. However, he was quickly apprehended. The driver of the Ford, Doel Rojas, 51, sustained moderate injuries while the driver of the Mazda, Sharon Edmondson, 68, sustained substantial injuries. Both were taken to University Medical Center.

The Risks of Speeding

Research from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) shows that speeding is the third leading factor in traffic accidents and occurs in 33 percent of fatal crashes. Further data shows that 39 percent of drivers who speed in fatal crashes are males between the ages of 15 and 20. If you have been involved in an accident where the other driver was speeding, you may have grounds to seek compensation for your damages. Speeding is against the law and is seen as a negligent act. When determining who is liable in a personal injury suit, the court looks for negligence. If you can show that the at-fault driver was speeding and that his or her recklessness caused the accident, the driver may be responsible for your damages. This includes your medical bills, pain and suffering and even lost wages.

If you have determined that the at-fault driver in your case was speeding, it is important that you act quickly and speak with an experienced personal injury attorney.
